Lyande Kaikai
Lyande Kaikai was born in Sierra Leone and moved to the UK at the age of four. She is the daughter of Sulaiman and Honourable Navo Kaikai, who is the former Member of Parliament for Kailahun.

Growing up in the UK, Lyande was deeply influenced by her parents’ commitment to giving back to the people of Sierra Leone. Her parents were always sending goods and money to family and friends back home, and Lyande learned early on the importance of helping others. She would often ask her friends for old shoes and clothes to send to those in need.

From a young age, Lyande joined her parents at SLPP (Sierra Leone People’s Party) meetings in the UK, sparking her interest in the political landscape of Sierra Leone. She actively supported and sponsored her mother’s election campaigns, which further strengthened her passion for making a difference.

Lyande has been involved in various ways with Sierra Leone’s national elections and proudly cast her vote in the 2023 elections. Her dedication to her homeland continued when she became part of the project management team responsible for building the Kailahun SLPP office, which opened in 2021. This was a significant milestone in her journey of contributing to the development of the party and her community.

In 2015, Lyande worked at the National Ebola Response Centre at the Special Court in Freetown. During this critical time, she wrote reports for the then-President, detailing the number of Ebola cases across the districts and the response efforts in place. This experience deepened her understanding of the importance of effective governance and public health systems.

Lyande’s professional journey also includes her entrepreneurial venture in travel. In 2012, she founded ‘My African Passport’, a travel consultancy business that allowed her to explore numerous African countries. Through her business, she worked closely with various tourism boards, ministries, and airlines to promote travel to African nations, helping to showcase the rich cultures and vibrant communities across the continent.

In 2023, Lyande founded K2 Generation, an organisation dedicated to supporting young people in Sierra Leone through education, health, and sports initiatives. Her first major project was raising funds to build a pre-school and playground in Kailahun, her birthplace, to provide free education and social activities for children. This initiative reflects her deep-rooted desire to give back to her community and help the next generation thrive.

The following year, in 2024, with the support of a Nigerian donor, Lyande constructed one borehole and three water wells, bringing clean water to communities across Kailahun. Access to clean water is crucial for health and well-being, and this project has had a significant impact on the lives of the local residents.

In 2025, Lyande is focused on raising funds to build a playground in Pujehun, further extending her commitment to the children and communities in Sierra Leone. Her work continues to have a positive impact, and she remains dedicated to improving the lives of those around her through her various initiatives.

Lyande Kaikai’s journey is one of service, leadership, and a deep connection to her roots. She continues to be a passionate advocate for Sierra Leone, striving to bring people together, develop the country, and create opportunities for the next generation to thrive.
